| Over time rubber diaphragms loose strength and elasticity causing the air pump to loose pressure. The diaphragm in all Rena Air pumps is made of EPDM rubber. The diaphragm connects to the magnetic arm on one side and to the valve block on the other. It flexes as the magnetic arm moves. The flexing pumps air into the valve block and out of the pump. The useful life of a diaphragm varies greatly depending on operating conditions. In general, the more back pressure the pump must work against to pump the air will mean more frequent diaphragm replacement. |
