Use API pH down to lower pH in freshwaer aquariums. Proper pH is essential for many community aquariums to reduce fish stress and prevent diseases that occur when fish immune systems are stressed due to improper pH levels. pH down will "soften" water and make it more acid. pH should be tested weekly.
Specifications:
- Use 1/2 teaspoon per 25 gallons
- Larger aquariums 1 teaspoon per 50 gallons
- CAUTION- Don't change pH more than 0.2 in 24 hours since some fish are very sensitive to changes greater than 0.2 per 24 hours
- Aquariums high in mineral ions such as carbonate and bicarbonates can resist pH reduction or cause "pH rebound" so more frequent dosing may be necessary.
